Norma E. Hanson

Age 100, of Lansing, MI, passed away on February 7, 2013. She was born in Livingston County on December 17, 1912, daughter of Charles and Elva Hanson. She has been a resident of Lansing since 1940.

Norma was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a member and officer in the Suzanna Wesley Circle and active in the Altar Guild for several years. She served on the Bazaar and Rummage Committees of the United Methodist Women, as well as being Chairperson of the Church Sewing Group for many years. In October 1992, she was recognized by Central United Methodist Women as a Second Century Woman. Norma was a former teacher in Livingston County Schools for 8 years, and Lansing Public Schools for 34 years. She graduated from Michigan State College and held many responsible positions in educational organizations during her teaching years. She was a member of the Lansing Association of Retired School Personnel, the Michigan Association of School Personnel and a Charter Member of Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society; by which she was recognized as a woman of distinction for the year 1997.

Norma loved to travel and had been to Europe and most all of the United States and much of Canada.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Ivan and Wallace, and her sisters-in-law, Jean and Wilma. Surviving Norma are 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 6 grandnieces, 3 grandnephews, 3 great-grandnieces and 1 great-grandnephew.

A private inurnment of ashes will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
