Nathan “Nate” Dabbert Janssen
Our dear, kind and gentle Nathan Dabbert Janssen passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 33, on Monday, December 16,2024. He was born on May 5,1991.
Nathan is survived by his loving parents, Charley and LeaAnne Janssen (West Olive, Ml), brother and sister-in-law, Adam & Crystal Janssen and niece, Chloe (Chicago, IL). He is also survived by his loving aunts and uncles: Janny and Gary Veselica (Clarklake, Ml), Lucy Phillips (Zeeland, Ml), Terry & Steve Christian (Jackson, Ml), John & Sally Janssen (Holland, Ml), Micki Janssen (Holland, Ml), Jim & Mary Janssen (Grandville, Ml), and Dave & Barb Janssen (Isle of Palms, SC). Nathan is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Nathan lived his entire life in Lansing, Ml. He attended Lansing Christian Schools, Lansing Community College where he received an associate degree, and Michigan State University.
Nathan had a huge heart and a kind soul. He was friends with everyone he met. He was also a great lover of all animals, especially his dogs, Tank & Ziggy. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially time spent in West Olive on the shores of Lake Michigan.
To honor and remember Nathan, please consider a gift to the Capital Region Community Foundation Youth Fund (Nathan served as President during high school) or the Capital Area Humane Society or your local food bank. Most of all, Nathan would want all of us to be kind and loving to all and “do something special for someone you love or someone that no one loves.”
No public service is planned. A private interment will be at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Grand Haven.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21,2024 at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw Street, Lansing, Ml.

December 18, 2024 at 3:02 pmNathan was a cherished friend and former employee at my bakery. Nathan was always kind and giving to all. Recently he would just call to chat and every conversation always ended with him telling me how much he appreciated me. My sincere condolences to Charlie and LeeAnn and family. Losing a child is something I can’t imagine. Peace to you during this time.

December 18, 2024 at 3:03 pmNathan, I can still hear your laugh. My locker was right next to you and you always made an effort to say hello and make me smile. It wasn’t until after senior survival that we became true friends but I won’t forget the memories we made and how great of a friend you were to me. Thank you for convincing me to bleach my hair on a whim and then sit with me and convince me it looked good when we both know it was macaroni and cheese colored. You had a great sense of humor and were always so genuine. You will be missed.
