She was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where, on August 30, 1947, she married Gordon Milne Jr. of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She was devoted to her family and, when her children were older, she took a job with Lansing Public Schools as a teachers’ aide, retiring in 1989. Nancy was a gifted needleworker, excelling in knitting, embroidery and needlepoint, and she contributed her art to the needlepoint kneelers at St. Paul’s. Nancy and Gordon loved to travel, and they had many adventures around the world, from the Arctic Circle to Greece. They also enjoyed several weeks each summer on Lake Leelanau, Michigan.

Nancy was preceded in death by Gordon, her husband of 69 years, and her brother Francis Wesley “Bill” Baxter. She is survived by her daughter Jane McCaffree (James) Bisaha of Alpharetta, Georgia; son Robert (Claire) Milne of Kalamazoo, Michigan; son James (Theresa) Milne of East Lansing, Michigan; three grandchildren, Christopher McCaffree of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ian and Hope Milne of East Lansing, Michigan; her sister, Barbara Baxter-Berman, of Palo Alto, California; sister-in-law Keitha Shaull Baxter of Portland, Oregon; Gordon’s sister Sara (Gerald) Nonken of Canton, Connecticut and Naples, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
