Miriam Janetzke
Age 79, passed away, February 10, 2022. She was born on November 10, 1942, in Lansing to the late Waldemar B. and Marie Ann (Folmer) Bork.
Miriam was born and raised in Lansing, graduating from Sexton High School. She later married Walter Janetzke and moved to Dimondale where they raised their three children, working as a secretary at Our Savior Lutheran School and as an operations manager for a stock brokerage firm. In 1993, Walt and Miriam moved to Branson, Missouri to manage the Pirates Cove Golf Course. After retiring, they moved back to Michigan to be with their family.
Miriam is survived by Walter Janetzke, her husband of 58 years; her children: Joni (Tom) Clarke, Brian (Karen) Janetzke, and Craig (Christine) Janetzke; her grandchildren: Jonathan (Breanna), Nathan, Hannah, Jackson, Christopher, Alex, and Evan; and one sister Ruth Ann Graft.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Dorothea Jean Boeckmann.
The funeral for Miriam will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

February 13, 2022 at 10:41 pmMiriam and I grew up together. Our parents were close friends and we spent many fun times together in our early years. When we were young married couples we spent time together playing cards. I was able to reconnect with her when she moved to Grand Ledge. She will be missed and my prayers are with her family.

February 14, 2022 at 1:38 pmI had the outwardly unevious position from 1993-2011 of being not only Miriam and Walt’s nephew, but also their boss. A testament to the character of my aunt and uncle: they made my job in Branson easy, never stressing our family relationship and always being great co-workers.
I share below a clip from a shareholder letter I wrote in June of 2012, where I documented my positive experience working with my aunt and uncle:
“After eighteen years at the helm, Miriam and Walt decided over last winter that it was time to retire. While I have regularly praised them in my correspondence over this entire period, I will mention for the last time that we as shareholders were very fortunate to have had the property in their care since day one. They hung tough during 1994-1995 (the first two years of soft business volume in Branson) and were responsible for the next sixteen years of solid business…. Their signature— an obsessive concern for the business, extending the operating season and manicured grounds…. In hindsight and unbeknownst to the Janetzke’s– I believe Miriam and Walt were largely responsible for raising the maintenance/quality bar for the entire Pirate’s Cove organization in the mid-to-late-90’s. Branson was the example I personally used to push the other Pirate’s Cove properties across the country; Branson became the improved standard to match. We wish Miriam and Walt good health and a happy retirement.”

February 18, 2022 at 10:13 amMiriam and Walt taught me a lot when I worked there. My husband and I spent 6 years there before she retired. I’ve thought about her a lot and I send my sincerest condolences to your family. She talked about you guys a lot and it made me feel like I had a family in Branson. Mike and I will miss her.
