Michelle T. Ridley

Michelle Ridley, 59, passed away peacefully in recent days, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and an unwaveringly positive spirit.

Michelle was a woman who found joy in many things, but especially in the companionship of animals, her faith, her family, and the people whose lives she touched. She had a deep love for horses and dogs and took great pride in the special bond she shared with her two beloved dogs, Blitz and Tillie. They were devoted companions who brought her tremendous happiness. Blitz was especially talented at nose work and competed in contests, where his remarkable ability and Michelle’s dedication made them a wonderful team.

Michelle was a proud graduate of Michigan State University and remained a devoted Spartan. She went on to become a lawyer, building a career marked by dedication and a genuine desire to help others.

Faith was an important part of Michelle’s life. She was deeply involved in her church community and generously gave her time and heart to others, including teaching Sunday School. She always referred to the children in her Sunday School class as “her kids,” because she loved them as if they were her own children and considered them a special part of her life. Her faith was reflected not only in her involvement at church, but also in the kindness, encouragement, and positivity she shared with those around her.

Michelle was a beloved daughter, sister, godmother, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her father, Roger Ridley; her step-mother Christine Ridley; her brothers, Roger Ridley, Mike Ridley, and Steve Best; her sister, Kim Shaw; and her goddaughter, Aurora Ridley, whom Michelle loved dearly.

The Van Dyke family—Uncle Art, Jennifer, Chris, Marjorie, Liz, and Jim Van Dyke—was also a deeply important part of Michelle’s life. Michelle and the Van Dyke children were cousins who grew up together and became exceptionally close friends. Their bond continued throughout their lives, and the Van Dyke family remained a constant source of love, friendship, and support for Michelle. They shared countless memories together and were there for her throughout the years.

Michelle also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, church family, and others whose lives she touched throughout the years.

I trained Michelle and Blitz in Nosework. She loved training him and watching him have fun. She was always upbeat and smiling. Before my husband passed away she always came to class early so she could visit with him and make him smile. She will be missed by many.

Michelle was in Nosework class with us and we were at a couple trials together. She was always up beat, positive, and wanting to help. She was always thrilled that Blitz would interact with Tom.
