Mary J. Miller
Age 84, died Friday, December 2, 2011, following a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born in Lansing on June 25, 1927.
She worked with special needs adults in the Lake Odessa area, and later as a medical coder in Lansing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Kent B. Miller, Sr.; her daughter, Christine Jacox; and two grandsons, Matthew Miller and Jeremy Miller. Surviving are: three sons, Kent B. (Darlene) Miller, Jr. of Haslett, Kevin L. (Sasha) Miller of East Lansing and Gregory L. Miller (special friend, Cheryl Ryder) of Lansing; she is also survived by four daughters, Cathryn (William) Edgeworth of Whitmore Lake, Theressa (Harold) Woodman of Charlotte, Nina Smith (special friend, Ron Goode) of Lansing, and Denise (Ken) Penix of Mason; 24 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; brother, Douglas (Nancy) Brown of Vermontville; sister, Patricia (George) Schraft of White Lake.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Mary’s greatest and proudest joy was her family and being surrounded by children. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the Michigan Special Olympics, in memory of Mary Miller.
