Age 68, passed away at home on Saturday, August 5, 2017.  Born to Charles L and Ann (Pelish) Brandt Feb. 21, 1949 in Saginaw, MI, she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, was a foreign exchange student to Nunen, Netherlands (1966), and graduated from Saginaw High School in 1967.  She married James B Thompson of Saginaw Apr 1, 1978.  She was previously employed at St Mary’s Hospital and Burke Tractor in Saginaw, Medical Personnel Pool in Whiteville, NC, the Burroughs Wellcome Co in the Research Triangle Park, NC, Visu-Sewer Clean and Seal of Pewaukee, WI, and North Grand River Coop in Lansing, MI.  She enjoyed water-skiing, tailgating with her husband’s family and friends at MSU football games, attending MSU basketball and baseball games, taking Caribbean cruises and vacation trips to New York City and Chicago, and especially wintering in Destin and on Okaloosa Island, FL the past 6 years where she and a group of 30-40 snowbirds from Michigan got together for the MSU basketball games at a local sports bar.  She was a member of the MSU Downtown Coaches Club for 18 years, on their Board of Directors for 12 years, and is the 2017 recipient of their Spartan Spirit Award.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father- and mother-in-law, Bernard G and Marion (Garner) Thompson of Saginaw, three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Bernard A Thompson of Suttons Bay, Robert G Thompson of Frankenmuth, and Larry A. and Carla (Smith) Thompson of E Grand Rapids.  She is survived by her husband, her brother, Robert C (Vicki Post) Brandt of National City, three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Mary Jean (Ackerman) Thompson of Suttons Bay, Janice (Lich) Thompson of Frankenmuth, and Judith K (Thompson) and Gary Thorne of Sierra Vista, AZ as well as many nephews and nieces.

Mary Ann wanted to thank Dr. Stephan J Saxe previously with the Kellogg Eye Center, the U of M Health System, Great Lakes Caring Hospice and Seniors Helping Seniors for being there in her times of need.  Mary Ann has made an anatomical gift of her body to the University of Michigan Medical School.

A Memorial Service will be held at Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel, 2121 N. Cedar St, Holt, MI 48842 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017.  A visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m.  She asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, Office of Development, 1000 Wall St, Ann Arbor, MI 48105-1986, the Great Lakes Caring Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper St, Jackson, MI 49202, or to Seniors Helping Seniors, 2500 Kerry St, Ste 102, Lansing, MI 48912.
