Marvin F. Estes
Marvin Estes passed away May 9th, 2025, at his home in Dimondale MI. He was born in Warren PA on August 12th, 1942, the eldest son of Ralph Peter Estes and Romaine Gnage. Marvin married Katherine Elizabeth Brattin in Potsdam NY in 1965. He started his career as an electrical engineer working for NASA, later working for Hewlett-Packard in Colorado Springs and ending his career at Eastman Kodak in Rochester NY, earning several patents before an early retirement in 2001 due to an arm injury. This ended up being a blessing to his son Ralph and his wife Heidi and their two daughters. Their daughters got two wonderful people that helped raise them while their parents worked.
He was a devoted family man loving his wife and family and was passionate about his work. He also had an interest in having his own little farm, where he built barns with the help of his sons. They raised goats, chickens, rabbits, and had cats and dogs.
Marvin was a faithful Christian and remained faithful to his church. He was well known for his strong faith and was an example to others for being unfailingly bright and cheerful despite some profound handicaps. His other interest was politics which he got more interested in the older he got.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Katherine, his parents Ralph and Romain Estes and by an older brother Ralph Burton Estes. He is survived by his sister Marla Janes her husband Benjamin Janes, his brother Douglas Estes and his wife Donna Estes. His children include his daughter Anna Estes, sons Tony Estes, Robert Estes, and Ralph Estes and his grandchildren Tabatha Estes, Tatum Estes, Carrington Estes, Michael Estes, Tristan Estes.
The family will receive friends and family for a viewing at Chapel Pointe Church, 1705 N Cedar Street Holt MI, on Thursday May 15, 2025, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. The funeral service for Marvin will be held at 11:00AM. We will have a luncheon from 12:00PM to 1:30PM. Burial will follow at 1:30PM at the Dimondale Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife Katherine.

May 14, 2025 at 9:50 pmThis man was a good friend of mine. We talked all the time about simple matters….life, future, hobbies, aven afterlife. We’d go to lunches going all over Michigan just to see the unique places there were around. It was always a blast to be a part of…I moved out of state to get a hold of my life, and often times I think about the friends I will miss. Marvin was one of those. A pure hearted Christian and a truly optimistic person.
I miss you my dear friend.

May 15, 2025 at 8:10 amMarvin was one of the sweetest and most loving human beings I have ever known. So upbeat and generous! My husband remembers his kindness and patience when he was very small. Rest in peace with Katie, Marvin.
