Martha Idella Miller

Age 90, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020. She was born on June 25, 1929, at the family farm in Bunker Hill Township, Michigan. She was the daughter of Forrest and Idella (Grunden) Neal. Martha was preceded in death by parents, brothers Floyd and Francis, and sister Joyce. Growing up on a farm, Martha learned hard work and self sufficiency that served her well, throughout her life. Martha graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1947. Martha was an executive secretary for Gulf Oil in Toledo, Ohio. In 1955, she married the love of her life, James W. Miller, who preceded her in death in 2002.

Martha and James loved to travel and spent several months each year at their house in Florida. The couple also liked to fish and had a cottage in Port Clinton, Ohio. They traveled abroad to Europe, Caribbean, Canada, as well as Hawaii and Alaska. In the early 1960s, they traveled the ALCAN to visit Martha’s brother Floyd and family. Martha was an avid gardener, gardening into her 80s.

Martha will forever be remembered for her tremendous energy, outstanding humor, kind heart and beauty, both external and internal.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the World Wildlife Fund in support of the Australia Bushfire Emergency.

My prayers are with the family in this time of loss. I will remember Martha for her smile, and how she enjoyed the hymns and carols we sang together.
