Marlene J. Corner

Born March 1, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Schatz) Schlotter. She passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in her home at the age of 89.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Klon “Harold” Corner, and daughter Deborah Corner.

Marlene was a passionate and opinionated woman, believing that involvement in social justice and politics could make lifelong changes in the lives of those in her community. She also had a love for music, including Jazz and Classical, she sang in the church choir, and enjoyed attending local concerts. In her free time Marlene was an avid gardener, and enjoyed Red Hat Society events. Her greatest love was for her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marlene’s daughter, Susan Corner, whose care made mom’s wish to stay in her home possible.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 517 S. Clinton St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Marlene’s memory, may do so to the Special Olympics. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Corner Family,
Nothing could have said more about Marlene than the “Red Hat’ photo, if there was ever a poster lady for fun, personality, compassion, sharing and faith. The note to “Suzy” also sent a great message, as family came first. We are proud, she made a difference.
