Marjorie Marie Tharnish-Brown
Marjorie Tharnish-Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away on August 12, 2026, at the age of 97.
Marjorie was born on December 19, 1928, in Carbon, Iowa to Nellie and Elmer Ferrin.
She was a woman of deep faith, a devoted Catholic, and a loving mother whose greatest joy was her family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Betty Miller and Rose Treon; her brother, Robert Ferrin; her first husband, Peter Tharnish, who passed away in 1996; and her second husband, Frank Brown, who passed away in 2013.
She leaves behind a beautiful family who will carry her memory and love forward: her children, Larry (Susan) Tharnish, Susan (Ed) Pavwoski, Paula (Jeff) Orler, Julie (Scott) Chelf, and Marilyn (Bob) Matthiesen; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was a positive, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother. She cherished spending time with her family and especially treasured the many moments she shared with her grandchildren. Marjorie found joy in staying active. She loved golfing, bowling, exercising, and dancing with her husband. Her warmth, optimism, strong faith, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Though 97 years of memories cannot be captured in an obituary, Marjorie’s greatest legacy is the family she loved so dearly. Her life will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and through the many lessons of love, faith, family, and positivity she shared with them.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Sts. James, Cornelius & Cyprian Catholic Church, 1010 South Lansing St., Mason, MI 48854. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sts. James, Cornelius & Cyprian Catholic Church.
May she rest in the peace of her faith and be forever surrounded by the love of the family she cherished.
