Lynne Carol Granger

Lynne Carol (Winters) Granger, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Melbourne Beach, Florida. After many years of health struggles, Lynne died peacefully and is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lynne attended Lansing Eastern High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Granger, in 1962. Lynne earned a degree in Music from Michigan State University in 1962.

Together, Lynne and Jerry raised their family of four children. While Lynne supported her family at home, she also engaged in her own creative and artistic passions. Lynne excelled in music and sang frequently as a church soloist while also directing both children’s and adult choirs. As she grew older, Lynne took up writing and painting, blessing her family and community with her artistic gifts.

Lynne’s faith in Jesus was at the very center of her life. While she battled significant health challenges, Lynne lived her life with hope, joy, and gratitude for God’s goodness to her. Lynne was known as a person of prayer throughout her life. Many lives have been impacted by the prayers Lynne offered on their behalf.

Lynne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry, and her four children, Wendy (Tom) Hofman, Linda (Joel) Zylstra, Dawn (Tony) Semple, and Todd (Gillian) Granger; grandchildren, Joel (Kristin) Hofman, Dan Hofman, Steven (Jessica) Hofman, Ellyn Zylstra, Leah (Jay Bettis) Zylstra, Jack Zylstra, Jake Semple, Cole Semple, Claire (Steven) Shallcross, Harrison (Hannah) Granger, Emma Granger, and August Granger; great-grandchildren, Jonah Hofman, June Hofman and London Zylstra; brother, Richard (Nancy) Winters; brothers-in-law, Alton (Jan) Granger and Ronald (Donna) Granger; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the amazing medical team who cared for and supported Lynne throughout the years. This includes her doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, home health aides in Lansing and Northport, MI, and Florida. Special thanks to Sandy for her in-home care during the past year. Lynne’s children would like to thank their dad for caring and supporting their mom and overseeing her care with extraordinary love and compassion.

The family welcomes you to a visitation at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held at Hope Community Church, 501 E. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2024. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be provided immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hope Community Church, Greater Lansing Youth for Christ, or Lansing Christian School.

I clearly remember Lynne leading our children’s choir, instilling a love of music into another generation. James and I send our love to the entire family and pray that God’s presence and comfort will flow over you all as you celebrate Lynne’s life.

Always one of the bright spots in my day when Lynn and Jerry walked in for Chiropractic care at Kribs wellness. She was always blessing the staff and patients with free copies of her book. My life was blessed because I knew her.

Lynne was such a good friend at Eastern and I was blessed to be Maid of Honor on the day she married Jerry. She was beautiful, kind, caring, sang like an angel – the complete package!!! I lost my husband of 61 years 3 months ago and am so comforted in the knowledge that he and Lynne are with our Lord forever!!
