LuAnn (Bell) Kent

Age 88, of Dimondale, MI, passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2023.

LuAnn was born June 11, 1934 to Floyd Robert Bell and Sarah (Kinney) Bell in Holt and graduated from Holt High School. She worked at AirLift Company as a secretary after graduation, and later worked as a secretary for many years in the Horticulture Department at Michigan State University until her retirement.  LuAnn married Eugene Kent on December 27, 1954.  Together they built their first home in Mason, and over the years they lived in Eaton Rapids and Dimondale where they built two more homes together.  After retirement they moved to Houghton Lake in 1997.

LuAnn loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and loved being “GG” to her great-grandchildren.  She was an avid bowler for over fifty years until she stopped at the age of 85.  She was affectionately known by her bowling friends as “Sophie.”  She still enjoyed regular get-togethers with several girlfriends including Joan and Betty who she had known since elementary school. She loved fishing at the lake with family, enjoyed planting and tending flowers in her yard, crochet projects and always loved just being on the go.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Gene, in 1997; her parents, Floyd and Sarah Bell; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Vickie Bell; brother, Donald Bell; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Joann Bell; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Joan Bell; and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and William Bush; brother-in-law, Fred Kent; nephew, Roger Kent; and nephew, Mark Bell.

Julie, I am saddened by the loss of your mom. After you and Rich’s wedding reception, her and I talked for a long time. From that point forward, we started exchanging Christmas cards every year. She was very special. I hope all your memories of her will bring you comfort. Much love, Bonnie

Julie,
You are the joyful daughter of an amazing, vibrant woman. We always had so much fun with her when we lunched together in Lansing. May you find peace and comfort in remembering your adventures.

I just found out about your mom. I am so so sorry. I considered her one of my best friends. She was my bowling buddy. My name is Galeeta Antes but she knew me as GG. I am so sad for your family
