Lorrie J. Stanton

Lorrie Jo Stanton, 54, of Holt, Michigan, passed away suddenly on November 7, 2020, to walk spiritually with her son, Johnny Wake Stanton, who preceded her passing in 2018.  Holding Lorrie’s hand as she joined Johnny’s side was her daughter, Alexis Anna Marie Stanton, 34 (Lansing, Michigan).

Lorrie was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 24, 1966.  Lorrie grew up in Holt and graduated from Holt High School.  Lorrie continued her education, obtaining an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.

Lorrie worked tirelessly and with great pride as a State of Michigan employee with the Department of Corrections, retiring in 2018.

She was survived by her dearest daughter, Alexis Anna Marie Stanton, 34 (Lansing, Michigan); parents, Rodney Kent and Carol Lee Stanton, (Holt, Michigan); sisters, Donita Ann Robards (Mt. Airy, Georgia) and Cristie Lou Robards, (Hoschton, Georgia); grandchildren, Johnny & Henry Stanton (Aurora, Colorado), and many nieces and nephews she so adored.

Lorrie’s viewing will be available to friends and family at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020, with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.  The cremation as chosen will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of Michigan in memory of Lorrie Stanton.

Lorrie, You love your family intensely and gave yourself to others without hesitation. I have not met many with your unique style and laughter. The heavens awoke with your arrival. Walk with your son now in paradise. Rest easy.

Lorrie we have been friends about 40 years, there are so many memories. Not only was you my friend you were family. Your laugh filled a room like fresh air, with a smile as bright as the sun! Your heart was broke and hurt when Johnny left us now you will no longer be broken. Watch over Alexis, send lots of signs. Love you!

I offer my deepest condolences for this tragic and sudden loss. Through my limited time knowing her, I came to know her as a smart woman who cared very deeply for her family.

I was Shocked at the news when I heard the passing of Lorrie Stanton!

I knew her when she first hired with MDOC until my retirement January 2014.

What I remember most about her was her bright smile and laughter that was her since I knew her.

She was reliable, tougher than some of the guys when called to battle, she was a true solider and supporter.

As her supervisor I could always depend on her when called upon, she required little to no supervision.
She maintained a “we can” optimistic attitude.
Overall she was a kind spirited person, cultivating a positive working rapport with all who she worked with.

She will be remembered by all who crossed paths may God be with the Family during these tough times and beyond and comfort them in their grief, I pray God be your strength and give you peace as you go through your lost of a love one but Heaven’s gain.

My Heartfelt Condolences to the Family!!!!

I worked with Lorrie that last few years of her career at WHV. She was full of life and always had a story to tell. Lorrie’s laughter was contagious and couldn’t wait to travel the States after her retirement.

So very sorry for your loss,

Mary
