Lawrence Lynn Dumeney
Lansing, Michigan.
Larry was called to his heavenly home at the age of 82, on October 26, 2024. He was born January 22, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, to Howard Harold and Patricia (Bates) Dumeney. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force for four years, where he was a sentry dog handler. After his military service, he served as a deputy and a detective, serving with three Police Agencies beginning with Lansing Township, Ingham County, and retired from DeWitt Township. He attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, was a certified police scuba diver, mounted police posse, a process server and also was a private investigator. After retiring, Larry was the coach driver for the Lansing Lugnuts’ professional minor league baseball team for 20 years. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time playing cards and games with his family, and his big projection screen television in his mancave.
Surviving are: his wife Marie Dumeney; daughter, Renee (James) Dixon; son, Patrick (Tammi) Dumeney; grandchildren, Ryan (Michaela) Dixon and Jordan (Katie) Dixon; great-grandson, Graham Dixon; twin brother, Gary (Mary) Dumeney; half-siblings, Daniel Dumeney, Dianne Morris, and Mark Dumeney, and nieces Angie, Tammy, Michelle, Kristin, Megan, and Melissa; nephews Randy and Nathan and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Dumeney; mother, Patricia Dumeney; grandmother, Lucille Ward; step-mother, Betty Dumeney; and half-brother, Mike Dumeney. Larry was a beloved husband of 60 years to Marie, a caring firm father, a “hands-on” grandfather, and recently became a great grandfather. He leaves us with cherished memories and will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 7910 E. St. Joe Hwy., Lansing. His family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again at the Church on Thursday for 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Entombment will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Larry Dumeney to Our Savior Lutheran Church where he was a member.
