Laura J. Brown

88, of Holt, Michigan, passed away on January 25, 2022, with her daughters at her side. Born March 8, 1933, to Clesson and Edith (Lemunyon) Dingman in Webberville, Michigan. Laura graduated from Webberville High School, where she played on the women’s basketball team. Laura was married for 39 years to her husband Jim, who preceded her in death, in 1989. Laura lived in Enterprise, Alabama while Jim was in the U.S. Army, returning to Lansing, Michigan after his discharge. Laura worked for Michigan Miller’s Insurance company, and later retired after serving as a teacher’s aide for the Lansing School District. Laura and Jim were avid square dancers, traveled extensively, and wintered in Mesa, Arizona, before Jim’s death. Subsequently, Laura wintered in Venice, Florida.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joyce, Luella Kulish, and Dorothy (William) Ladd; brothers, Clesson Jr. (Ann), Lorain, and Jerome; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Bergmann.  Laura is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Jeff) Klont of Eaton Rapids and Terri (Gary) Rowe of Holt; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Dan) Hancock of Holt and Marilyn (Richard) Nelson of Lake City; and sister-in-law, Sharon Dingman of Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the excellent care Laura received at Prestige Way and from Michigan Community VNA Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saved by Zade, P.O. Box 27, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827 (Laura loved her pets) or to Pennway Church of God, 1101 E. Cavanaugh Rd., Lansing, MI 48910. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

So sorry to hear of aunt Laura’s death. I remember all the times our families got to gether when we were young.

I didn’t know Laura personally, only through Terri Sue—but both TS And Debbie are fine, capable women that any mother would be proud of, so Laura has that to her credit.
