Kenneth W. White

Kenneth, of Lansing, departed this life on July 27, 2011. He was born on March 19, 1929 at the family farm in Eaton Rapids Township in Eaton County, Michigan, the only child of Garret H. and Edith (Cramer) White.

Mr. White attended the local country elementary school, Potterville High School and graduated from Lansing Business University. Mr. White served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Europe. On October 23, 1953 he was united in marriage to Doris E. Thomas of Lansing. Mr. White was a 30-year officer and director of Union Federal Savings and lastly served as president and CEO. He was also a member of Central United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris E. White; daughter, Karen E. Hicks of Muskegon; sons, Garret W. (Christine) White of Bancroft and Timothy L. (Susan) White of Wadsworth, OH; 6 grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew and Peter Hicks, Jacob and Courtney White, and Shane Fisher; and special cousins, Evelyn Dillin and Arlene (Ralph) Letters of Battle Creek.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Kenneth White.
