Kenneth E. Judd

Age 88, of East Lansing, MI, passed away on March 6, 2023. He was born August 23, 1934, in Lansing, MI, to the late John and Marie Judd.

Kenneth Edward Judd was a St. Mary High School graduate and had fond memories of his youth, especially time spent playing sports. Ken enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. After his return, Ken met and was captivated by a young nurse from Chicago named Arlene Stritar on a weekend visit to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Ken and Arlene’s marriage went on to last 64 years. She survives him.

Ken graduated from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) and enjoyed a 44-year career in Fleet Sales with Oldsmobile. This job took his growing family across several states and eventually back to his hometown of Lansing, Michigan.

Ken was gregarious and kind, making friends wherever he went. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and listen to “golden oldies” as he tended to the family home. Ken’s generous smile and good humor are vividly reflected in the personalities of his seven children. He enjoyed sports, especially Michigan State University athletics, and was an avid golfer.

Ken was known for his strong faith; he attended mass regularly and found the nearest Catholic Church whenever he traveled. He was a man of great character, an exemplary model for his children, and never complained about life’s challenges. Ken was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Old Newsboys Association.

In addition to his wife Arlene, Ken leaves seven children and their families; Kenneth (Debra) Judd, Patrick (Regina) Judd, Katie (David) Picone, Christopher Judd, Ellie (John) Stalzer, Kevin (Sheridan) Judd, and Tony (Michelle) Judd; 14 grandchildren, Samantha (Mike) Opel, Connor Judd, Erika and Andrea Judd, Alyssa (Nic) Ryan, Elizabeth, Kevin, Kenny & Cecelia Stalzer, Lauren (Harrison) Fairchild, Caroline Judd, Paige, Emily & Matthew Judd; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. His siblings, Donald, Shirley, Robert, and Helen, preceded him in death.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Red Cedar Lodge for the excellent care and kindness shown to Ken in his final weeks.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
