Keith “Shorty” Douglas

N. Keith Douglas "Shorty"Age 94, passed away February 19, 2026.  He was born November 23, 1931, in Lansing, Michigan, to Nolan and Clara Douglas.  Keith served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict, continuing with the Marine Corps Reserve.  He retired from General Motors in 1991, after 29 years of employment.  Keith was the past commander and oldest member of VFW Post 7309 in Mason.  He loved singing, playing golf and woodworking.  He was a former baseball coach.

Surviving are:  his wife of 73.5 years, Ardith; children, Jeffery (Linda) Douglas, Danette (Gary) Strickland, and Tina (Cliff) Belman; 7 grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Suzianne, Kenda, Rhonda, Keisha, and Kaleb; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Janene Todd.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce and Rex.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at VFW Post 7309 of Mason, 1243 Hull Road in Mason.  His family will receive friends at the post from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his VFW Post, or to the VFW National Home in memory of Noland Douglas.

Here was a VERY STRAIGHT UP FORWARD GUY…always With me…like a father figure…

We had some wonderful times with Kieth, including camping and Karaoke. He will truly be missed.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Keith. I’ve known Keith for a long time, Skip Mudgett, Dick Clark, and Kieth played golf regularly for years in our league at Bonnie View. The 3 Musketeers. Also good and long time singers.
I didn’t know he was a Marine until one day I saw him at City Limits bowling with a Marine hat on. Thank you Keith for your service.
