Kay Ann Rose

Born July 6, 1941, in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of the late Dennis and Navis (Thompson) Johns, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at age 77.

Kay was the best mother and grandmother to her five loving children, Lisa (Scott) Thomas of Lansing, Lance (Lisa) Rose of Lansing, Shawn Rose of Colorado, Clint (Vicki) Rose of Lansing, and Lana Alward of Lansing; to her ten loving grandchildren, Michael, Bryan (Tanya), Jonathan, Melyssa (Tommy), Nicholas (Patricia), Janell, Chance, Savannah, Jada, and Jacob; to her nine adoring great-grandchildren, Aryenna, Andrew, Parker, Gage, Cameron, Angelina, Noah, Paul, and Lilly.  She is also survived by her two brothers, Kent Johns and Jeff (Connie) Johns; her sister, Denise (Dan) Shadduck as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Kay was preceded in death by her sister, Teri Fletcher.

Kay was a graduate of Holt High School and enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in 1961, where she learned nursing.  Following the service she worked as a Nurse in the Maternity Ward and Ingham Medical Center.  After her nursing career she owned and operated her own cleaning business; K-Team Cleaning Service.  She was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of Glad Tidings Church of Lansing.  Kay was also an avid amateur photographer, a thorough archiver of her family, enjoyed scrapbooking, and was the world’s #1 Elvis fan.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Dimondale.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.
