Kathleen Olofsson Demmer passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2018 surrounded by family at home in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

Kathleen was born on April 30, 1922 to Gustav and Marguerite Olofsson. Kathleen graduated from East Lansing High School in 1940, and then pursued her love of art with an invitation to The Three Arts Club of Chicago. The Three Arts Club was an organization to offer support and residence to women in the arts including painters, actors, and musicians. Kay O.’s focused mediums included chalks, drawings, etchings, oils and watercolors.

After her residence at TAC she met the love of her life, Harry Demmer, who she married in 1947. Her sister, Marnie Olofsson married his brother, John Demmer, of Harbor Springs. The two brothers each have lost their spouse. Preceded in death by Harry Demmer and Marnie Olofsson Demmer, Jo Lynn Demmer (daughter), John Demmer Jr. (nephew) and Nicholas Warner (grandson). Her children include Karin (David) Brown, Kathleen (Dan) Bowers and Maureen Demmer. Grandchildren include Beth Warner, Meghan Warner Baker, and Ryan (Janis) Brown, and great-grandchildren Katherine and Annabelle Warner, Anders Warner McCarthy, Koalani Warner Baker, and Hailey and Liam Brown. She is survived by siblings Thelma (George) Weaver, Karen (David) Noe and brother Alexander (Pat) Olofsson. Sisters-in-law include Mary Heppler, Betty Raths, Dodie Beetham and many nieces and nephews.

Included in sharing her passion for the arts, and traveling with her grandchildren was her greatest gift of all, celebrating her life with family on beautiful Lake Charlevoix. She treasured each part of nature through the eye of an artiste, capturing each day with laughter, love, and grace.

A private service will be held with family in the spring.

I cherish the memories of family gatherings and beautiful Kathleen. Can almost hear brother Harry singing to her, “I’ll Take You Home Kathleen”
