Karen Noe

Karen NoeKaren (Olofsson) Noe, age 88 of East Lansing passed away on August 23, 2024 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones.  She was born September 14, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan.

In 1958, Karen married David Noe in Lansing, Michigan.

From an early age, Karen enjoyed figure skating and became quite an accomplished skater by the time she graduated college. She attended Sexton High School, Lansing, MI, and graduated from MSU in 1957, studying Elementary Education. Karen was an elementary teacher until she was required to stop teaching when she became pregnant.  She was very artistic which led her to volunteering for the Junior League of Lansing and chairing their arts program. Frequently you could find her using all sorts of materials to create special puppets and art projects.

Karen had been a member of the Country Club of Lansing since she was 13.  She had a love for golf, which she and David enjoyed playing together and with friends, for many years.  Karen brought the idea of The Women’s Invitational to the Country Club of Lansing and the event continues to this day. Golf became secondary after her grandchildren were born as she wanted to spend as much time with them as possible.  Karen and David spent many Winters in Maui and Summers in Boyne City, MI their homes away from home.  They made many new friends in both places.  Her greatest love was for her family and friends and if you were one or the other, you knew it!

Karen is survived by her husband David of 66 years daughters, Pam (Edgar) Harden, Marnie (Jim) Bullock, granddaughter Carly Bullock, grandson Clayton Bullock and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. GA Olofsson Sr., brother, Al Olofsson (Patricia), sisters, Thelma Weaver (George), Kathleen Demmer (Harry), and Marnie Demmer (John).

Special thanks go out to her wonderful caregivers, Martha Ording, VNA Hospice, and the kind women of First Light Home Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Capital Area Humane Society CAHS 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906 or to your favorite charity in remembrance of Karen.

A private service will be held.

Dear Dave and Family:
My late Mother , Virginia Atayan, attended Sexton with Karen and enjoyed the time they spent together working on various Junior League Projects featuring Karen’s artistic creativity. I will always remember the fun and happiness with your family especially when we got our turn with the Blue Olds 98 Diesel with The Bright Red Interior. Praying for You and The Family.
Warm Regards,
Michael Atayan

To our best friend from down South. We will always remember our summers together for many years. Especially our conversations on the porch at the marina and dinner at the Horton Bay General Store. David always ate all the lamb chops. God bless you and your family.
