Judith Everett Fessenden Sargent Snyder

Age 82, of Bath, Michigan, passed away September 16, 2024, at home with her family. Judith was born on May 29, 1942, to Leonard E. Sargent and Doris (Fuller) Sargent in New York. She married John A. Snyder on June 30, 1963.

Judith moved to Michigan with her young family in 1967 while John was pursuing a degree at MSU. During her lifetime she fulfilled many roles in a quiet and competent way caring for family, friends, land, and animals. After years of raising her children to be strong, caring and responsible human beings, she returned to college, became a computer programmer and proceeded to have another career. All the while, taking up causes both spiritually and politically that spoke to her heart.  After retirement, she raised eight Leader Dog puppies for Leader Dogs for the Blind.  Her dogs always brought a smile to her face, and she loved hearing about the good work they did across the globe.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean (Sargent) Morgan. She is survived by her husband, John A. Snyder; children, Jean (Chester) Pierce, Peter (Amy) Snyder, James Snyder, Karen Gomillion and John Mark Snyder; grandchildren, Alayna (Derek) Urban, Alyssa Pierce, Sarah Snyder, Erin (Zack) Ziknit, Anna (Jonathan Romero) Snyder, Daniela Snyder, Andrés Snyder, Alexander (Delaney) Snyder, Joshua Snyder, Ronald E. Gomillion, Roy E. Gomillion and Ryan E. Gomillion; and great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Caleb, Graham and Nova.

A private family burial will be held on September 19, 2024, with a Service of Thanksgiving at the Spirit of Peace Church of the Brethren, 1118 S. Harrison Rd., East Lansing, MI  48823, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you consider a donation to Leader Dogs for the Blind (https://give.leaderdog.org/for/hon/info/website) or the Spirit of Peace Church of the Brethren (https://secure.myvanco.com/YHQZ/home) in her memory.

Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

She and John were a big part of our lives and of our children’s lives.
