Joyce Ann Mitoska
Age 86, of Holt, Michigan, passed away October 26, 2024. She was born March 14, 1938, in Lansing, Michigan, to Maurice and Ruth Balcom. Joyce graduated from Sexton High School in 1956. Out of high school, Joyce worked for Merill Lynch and Dart Container before starting her career in 1974 for the Michigan State Police at the central records division and was promoted to Lansing post secretary before retiring in 2000 after 26 years of service. Joyce was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holt. In her spare time Joyce enjoyed her weekly bible study group, gardening in her many flower beds, going to get pedicures and seeing movies with her longtime friend Liz, but most importantly, spending time with her family brought her the most joy.
Surviving are her children, Julie (Steve) Chadwell, Karen Mitoska, and Eric (Angie) Mitoska; grandchildren, Lisa (Dustin) Shepler, Jace Mitoska and Tanner Mitoska; great-grandchildren, Ashtin Shepler, Emma Shepler and Baker Shepler; and sister, Judy (Chuck) Gubry. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Lora Elizabeth Felgenhauer; and great-grandson, Dash Mitoska.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt, MI 48842 on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in Joyce’s name.

She was tending her garden which she did frequently, beautifying her entire neighborhood… I had become friends with Karen, a very lovely lady as well, and I wanted to thank her for gfting Karen to the the rest of the world. If feel blessed to have been able to tell her that.
