Joshua D. Troutt

We’re heartbroken to announce the death of Joshua Daniel Troutt on June 16, 2023, at 38 years old, six days shy of his 39th birthday.

He was born on June 22, 1984 to his mother Sandra Troutt and father Jay Cernell in Grand Junction, CO. Josh grew up as a young kid in Colorado until his family moved back to Michigan when he was 11. He was raised in the Lansing and Bath area and attended Lansing schools. As a kid, he was spunky and had a quick wit. He was the only well-organized boy in a house with his less-organized mother and sisters but he wouldn’t have had it any other way. He grew into a resourceful, charming man who had a passion for fishing, camping, cooking and definitely had the magic touch when doing the things he loved. He, like his mother, had a huge heart for animals and was almost never without a dog in tow. He was a loving son, caring brother, and proud Father.

Josh has been reunited with his grandparents, Wayne Troutt and Joyce Brown as well as his beloved dog Benny. He was survived by his mother, Sandra Troutt; children, Jacob Troutt and Kayla Troutt; younger sisters, Casandra Cernell and Taylor Bappert; and four nephews all of whom loved him deeply. He will also be greatly missed by his dogs, Bark-bark, Hank and Minnie, who were with him till the end.  He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts

In honor of his family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life ceremony will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to a GoFundMe account to help with expenses and celebration of life ceremony. https://gofund.me/3e6fff33

Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Josh, you were the son I never had. You were the only boy in a house full of girls, we were reminded of that every time you were asked to do the dishes. You will be missed, and our love will follow you up the stairway to heaven.
