I am so deeply saddened to hear that John has passed away. He was such a generous, selfless, and humble man. Ten years ago, I worked at Potter Park Zoo and was responsible for getting volunteer positions filled for upcoming events. I still remember that my fallback plan was always to call John, because if I asked if he could help, he always agreed. What loss for our community. Rest in peace, John. <3

I can not remember where I first met John. Was it as part of MSU? Was it part of Potter Park? Was it Al Stewart fandom?

This is a huge shock for me.

I remember John playing a Mellotron when not many people knew what that was.

The world has lost a shining star.

Many great memories playing together in the late 90s and early 2000s. Wolf was a wonderful person, and a kind soul. I always loved his creative unique sound styling, whether it was his bass running through a mooger fooger ring mod, or his various effects, which personified the classic Wolf bassline.

Doug, I concur. I have great memories of playing music with him between 1998 and 2001. I was really hoping we were all going to get together this fall. He’ll be missed.

John, if I had one more chance to talk with you. I’d remind you; we’ve been friends and pen pals for almost 60 years. We met at Woodson High School and stayed in touch through good times and bad. Often you were my sounding board and my confidante. I will miss your support, your wit, your practice patient exploits, your zoo sagas, your wolf stories and so much more. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being my friend. As always, Kris
