Born April 6, 1949, in Lansing and passed away too soon on February 6, 2016. John married the love of his life, Fran, on April 23, 1972. Together, they opened JB’s Party Store & Pizza in Dimondale in 1972, where they worked together every day until their retirement. In addition to several other businesses, John also owned Mik’s Pizza Supply. John was an active member of St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church, serving as parish council president for many years.
John enjoyed his family time, especially those spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Fran; daughters, Kim (Bob) McFarland and Micki Johnson; grandchildren, Alaina, Marissa and Rachel; and one great-grandson, Carson; brothers, Sam (Sue), Jim, Bill (Robin) and Tom (Pat) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Butch (Susan) and Dan (Karen) Molnar; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Alexandra; and parents-in-law, Jim & Irene Molnar.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at St. Andrew Orthodox Catholic Church, 1216 Greencrest, East Lansing, with interment to follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens. His family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, where the Panikhida will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Orthodox Church, or the Greater Lansing Food Bank in memory of John Johnson.
