John Howard Edwards

Age 69 of Lansing passed away September 2, 2026.  He was born August 5, 1957, in Lansing to the late Clifford and Lorraine (Alt) Edwards.

John was a graduate of Sexton High School, class of 1975. Following graduation John went on to serve his country in the U. S. Army and Army Reserves. While serving in the Army John was a mechanic, a trade that would become a lifelong passion. John was a talented mechanic working in auto repair. He had a special talent for exhaust pipe bending and was known for his ability to access by eye exactly how fit an exhaust, which is notoriously difficult even for experienced technicians. His love of automobiles also extended into racing, which loved and helps as a mechanic. John also loved fishing. But most of all he loved his grandchildren, who could do no wrong in his eyes! John was loved by many and will be missed by those who knew him.

Surviving John is his wife of 46 years, Sherry Edwards; his children, Mike (Krista) Edwards, Michelle (Justin Cooper) Edwards, Melissa (Ryan) Bertoia, Matt (Karen Zdunic) Edwards, and Monica (Miguel) Arcaute; grandchildren, Fisher, Marceleno, Jackson, Kyjah, Gabriella, Koah, Mila, Myah, Olivia-Mae and Xander; brothers, William (Lori) Edwards, and Tom Edwards; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Kenneth Edwards, a sister Ann Boyer, brothers David Edwards and Scott Edwards, and nephews Zackary Boyer and Ethan Edwards.

There will be a memorial gathering held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with honors to take place at 12:00 p.m., at the Morley S. Oates VFW Post 701, 123 N. Rosemary St., Lansing, MI 48917.
