E. Lynn John Bowers
Born December 26, 1948 in Lansing, Michigan, son of the late Eloan J. “E.J.” and Vera Jean Bowers passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, at age 73. John served in the U.S. Army before completing college and continued his service in the Michigan National Guard. John went on to earn both Undergraduate and Graduate degrees from Michigan State University, and had a fulfilling career with the Michigan Corrections Organization representing corrections officers and employees for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the family hunting club in Northern Michigan.
Survivors include two brothers, James (Vicki) Bowers, and Jeffrey (Patricia) Bowers; seven nieces and nephews, Nancy (Jeff) Totten, Derek (Mary) Schraft, Michael Bowers, Ryan Bowers, Brent (Sarah) Bowers, Lauren (Matthew) Nolan, and Brian Bowers along with many cousins. John was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Schraft, in 2021.
A Celebration of Life and luncheon in John’s honor will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Coral Gables Restaurant, 2838 Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel www.EstesLeadley.com.
