Joel J. “Buddy” Klein

Age 88, passed away November 18, 2022.  He was born February 2, 1934, in Detroit, to Irving and Helen Klein.  Joel earned his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and served in the U.S. Army.  He retired in 1994 from the State of Michigan, where he worked in the Department of Community Health.  He was loved by all who knew him.  His interests include golf and bowling.

Surviving are:  his wife of 27 years, Dianna Klein; children, Ellen (Jim) Klein-McGinley, Jeffrey (Sherri) Klein and Michael (Pamela) Klein; step-children, Yvonne (Michael) Johnson and W. Scott Hempsted; grandchildren, Brady Klein, Macy Klein, and Grant Johnson; nieces, Andrea Lowe and Ilene Riffle.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy Klein.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the VFW in memory of Joel Klein.
