Joan Marie Hocking

Joan was born May 2, 1928 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  She continued her journey to eternal life November 8, 2012. She was currently of Lansing.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dan and Beatrice (Parker) MacDougall.  Joan is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband of over 64 years, William Joseph Hocking; twin sister, Jean Margaret MacDougall; sons, Brian C. Hocking (Ginger Bayliss) and G. Michael Hocking (Laurie); grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Sara, Lisa and James; great-grandson, Eli; and loving friend, Laila.

Joan was a fierce and loyal Detroit Tigers fan, and loved to play golf.

Services will be held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, Michigan on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Harry H. Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.  In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Sparrow Foundation for the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, or to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.  The family would like to thank Joan’s caregivers, all of whom were kind, caring, gentle and thoughtful.  Arrangements by Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
