Jo Lynn Jacobs

Jo Lynn Jacobs passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 8:10 PM on January 1st, 2024.  Born to Edwin and Peggy Lynn Winnie on September 7th, 1949, Jo lived her life for the Lord and trusted in the promise of the resurrection.

Jo’s strong sense of empathy and compassion drew her to a life devoted to caring for others. Jo developed a strong connection to the saving power of Jesus Christ in her life that she loved to share with everyone. This led to Jo being an active participant in the many Christian Worship Communities that she belonged to throughout her years, including Mt. Hope, Abundant Grace and Charlotte Assembly of God.

Devoted to her family, Jo was always there for them, in good times and bad.  Actively taking care of her father at the end of his life as well as serving as guardian and primary caregiver to her older brother, Jerry, for many years.  Later in life, needing help of her own, Julie VanSyckle was an amazing Home Health Aide and became like a daughter to her.

A true testament to her love for her children and grandchildren, Jo selflessly was there in times of need and left many memories filled with laughter and love.  Co-parenting many of them, she left behind a great wealth of independent thinkers, reading lovers, and brave souls.  Jo was always everyone’s Mom; if you were in her children’s lives, you were hers also.

Jo had many interests and hobbies, including winemaking, sewing, coloring, cooking, reading (including hours reading her Bible), knitting, crocheting, painting, soap making, and walking around with gorgeous nails.

Jo was preceded in death by her mother (Peggy Winnie), her father (Edwin Winnie), her brother (Jerry Winnie), her daughter and son-in-law (Kelly and Michael Magyar) and her best friend (Cheryl Jordan).  Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law (Mariah and Dan Jonckheere), and her grandchildren: Miranda Magyar, Anthony Stewart, Devin Stewart, Gabby Magyar, Justin Magyar, Helena Jonckheere and Sophia Jonckheere.

In lieu of services, Jo will be laid to rest in Houghton Lake, MI, at a time of the families choosing.

Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

Jo-Lynn was a Founding Member of Abundant Grace Church and her and Jerry were loved by everyone. She had a deep love for God and was a faithful friend to me and others. I know she is with Jesus today and I am rejoicing with her as she enters into her reward!
