Where do I begin? Jerry and I go way way back to 1957. We competed together
in football, basketball, and baseball. Jerry was the most honest person that I have
ever met. I had total faith in what ever he told me. He and Linda were so great
together and always made you feel welcome. I will miss all the times we had
together. GOD You got a good man!!

TO Linda, Jordan, DeYeya and Girls,
As I an still processing the loss of Jerry I can’t imagine what you are going through. Maria and I can only send our deepest Condolences and offer our love and support. If we can help in any way, let us know Jerry has been my friend for many years since college. Following his baseball days, from MSU and Lansing City Baseball to the minor leagues in Iowa. We shared a love for baseball and all sports. jerry was a true friend in every way: a good decent person who respected everyone and everything. It is ironic that Bob Uecker died the day after Jerry. Jerry liked “Mr. Baseball” and his humor. Maybe they will meet going thru the Pearly Gates. I will miss Jerry and I will always remember him.

Linda, Jordan and family-
Jerry was my favorite uncle. He always made me feel welcome when I came to Michigan to visit my dad and grandparents. He played catch with me. He let me be a bat girl when he played baseball for McNamara municipal team. He made the effort to see me when he visited California. I am so sorry for your loss. I have no words to adequately express my deepest sympathy. He was kind, honest and genuinely a good man.
God speed Uncle Jerry! I love you.

Dear Linda:

My times with Jerry were few and far between. I remember his real talent for playing baseball and competing against him in city baseball. Most of all I remember his kindness and smile.
My last time of any significancea was a few years ago when Jerry and I with Dave and Charlie, searched for an old fishing hole in Bellaire that Jerry shared with his dad. We found it and I took a picture of him at that location.
Jerry will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
May the Lord grant you peace and comfort in this time of your sorrow.
Your friend,
Bill Losen

Linda & Family,
I go back to my early years knowing Jerry from his time at MSU playing baseball and his longtime friendship with my father, Dr. Rex Carrow. I followed a baseball career at MSU then professionally and back to the Lansing City League where I picked up my relationship with Jerry. A true gentleman of honesty, integrity and friendship. Please know I will keep you all in my Prayers and close to my Heart in the days to come.
Kindest Regards,
Rick Carrow

My brother, John Hershey, was a friend of Jerry’s from sometime in grade school! They participated in some sports, altho John could not compete on Jerry’s level. But Jerry was always one of John’s good friend’s, someone he admired. John is in memory care, but 3-5 months ago, I was visiting him & he launched into Jerry stories, things they did in grade school or when they ran into on another during college. It was a delight to see him so animated & apparently remembering something from his past. I was a couple of years younger than John & Jerry, but do remember when the Sutton family moved into the neighborhood. Jerry was one the the really special people. I am so sorry for the family.

Jerry, Linda, my husband, Dean, and I tailgated together before many Michigan State football games. I was always trying to fix Jerry up, but he found Linda on his own at Cooley Law School.
Jerry and my husband, Dean, go back much farther than those tailgates how ever. They both went to Sexton High School. Then they joined the same fraternity at Michigan State, Lambda Chi Alpha.
Jerry and Linda had a very happy marriage, having one child, a daughter Jordan. She became a lawyer like her parents. Jordan and her husband, Deyeya, have four very lively young daughters. They always brought a smile to Jerry’s face.
I will miss Jerry’s quiet demeanor. He was honest and hard working. He gave back a lot to the Lansing community, making it a better place.
Until we meet again good friend. Nancy

Dear Linda, Jordan and the entire Sutton family.

Jerry has left an enduring mark in our community with the thoughtful and generous ways he involved himself. I saw first hand the energy he brought to the fundraising efforts of the Greater Lansing Food Bank, which was just one of the non-profit organizations he helped. And the personal touch and care he provided for both my own estate planning and to assist in a sticky situation regarding a family matter were incredibly helpful.

As kind and warm a person as you could ever hope to have in your circle.

You all are in my prayers.

One of the comments about Jerry was his quiet demeanor. Jerry was so greatly respected by his LAX brothers that he never had to raise his voice. I feel blessed to have known Jerry , lived with him in the house and watched him play baseball @ MSU. Rest in pease you will be missed by all who knew him.

To Linda, Jordan and family;
We are so so sorry to hear about Jerry. Our sincere condolences.
I got to know Jerry a little while playing baseball in the Lansing City League and learned of his accomplishments at MSU and after; a member of the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame.
Later he helped my parents and then my brother and me with legal Wills and Trusts. I always felt a connection with him because of our Spartan Athletic connection.
A true gentleman, scholar and athlete who was very honest, kind and trusted; a man I truly admire.
Our prayers and sincere sympathy

I met Jerry playing city league baseball while still in high school and was awed to be playing along side a MSU All American. I quickly learned what a gentleman and all around class act Jerry was. Jerry was a great role model for young guy. Jerry faithfully attended MSU First Pitch dinners and I got a chance to say hello and catch up every year at the dinner. If there were more Jerry’s in this world, the world would be a much better place!

Jerry’s Dad and my dad were teammates in Lansing City League baseball as far back as the 1940’s .
We were high school baseball and football teammates at Sexton and later opponents playing against each other in college and South Dakota’s Summer Baseball League.
I spent most of my adult life traveling the Country as a baseball broadcaster and whenever I told people I was from Michigan they would ask if I was ‘Michigan nice’ ?
My answer was always no but my friend and legal advisor Jerry Sutton is the poster person for Michigan Nice.
Deepest condolences to Linda, Jordan, and the entire Sutton family. He was ‘one of a kind
