Jeanette Eiserman

Age 83, passed away quickly with no suffering on September 5, 2018. She was one of the world’s most unselfish people, spending her life caring for her loving daughter, Amy (“two peas in a pod.”)

She was born Jeanette Doris West on March 22, 1935 and lived her entire life in Lansing. A 1953 Eastern High School graduate and 39 year employee of the State of Michigan, she earned her leisure time by gardening, bird watching and roller coasters among her greatest pastimes (as well as all things Disney)! Jan is a former national secretary of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) and earned a certificate in horticulture at Michigan State University and helped Burcham Hills Retirement Home in their garden.

Jan is survived by her three children, Gordon  (Emily) L. Clark (Hicks), Jorgia (Jane Schanski) E. Van Deventer and Amy K. Hicks. Her grandchildren are Gina (Eric Stewart) Beaudry, Jacob (Alyssa) Van Deventer, Rachelle (Aaron Wekenman) Van Deventer, Renee Van Deventer, Andrew Hicks and Jeremy (Eva) Hicks. Also surviving are 8 wonderful great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, no service will be held. Condolences may be sent to Estes-Leadley Funeral Home and contributions to the Capital Area Audubon Society.

I am writing to convey my heartfelt sympathy to all of Jan’s family. What a wonderful woman. I had the honor and pleasure of working with her for a number of years at the Department of Licensing and Regulation in the 1970s. Jan was always full of life who made you smile as well as took her work seriously. I still remember her enthusiastic stories about finding a new roller coaster to ride no matter where it was located. One of the “good people” you cross paths with during your life time that you never forget. I remember her like yesterday and it has been almost 50 years ago…Kindest Regards, Bill Howe
