Janice A. (Steckle) Skiver

Age 85, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away September 3, 2025. She was born on March 6, 1940, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Kenneth and Lanette (Pennifill) Steckle.

Janice graduated from East Lansing High School in 1958 and later went on to attend classes at Lansing Business University. On December 28, 1963, Janice and Neal got married. She was a member of the Okemos Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed vacationing at their family’s summer home at Torch Lake and Long Lake near Traverse City, Michigan. Janice liked to read, sew, do crafts, garage sales, antiquing and being a stay-at-home mom.

Surviving are her daughters, Dawn Miller and Catherine (Dennis) McMaster; grandchildren, Michael Skiver and Cecelia Curtis; brother, Gordon (Lynda) Steckle; and her beloved cat, Missy Moo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Neal Skiver.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St. Lansing. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
