Janet L. (Warden) Maurer
Age 81, our loving wife, mom, and grandma was called home by our Lord on November 15, 2024. Born October 5, 1943, in Lansing, to J. Wallace and Helen Warden, Janet was a St. Marys grad, class of 1961. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, and later, St. Mary Cathedral Parish. Janet’s parents were born and raised in Ludington, MI, hence her love for that city and her relatives living there.
Her professional life included being a dental assistant, Township clerk, and finally Grand Ledge Schools, as a Parapro. Her favorite occupation was being a mom, and she was the best. She loved Bill and Mary with all her being!
Surviving are her husband of 56 years Michael, her children William (Maggie + Theo), Mary (KayLeAnne Owen) and former son-in-law Keith Owen. Also, her step brothers and sister, Barbara (Richard) Hills, Thomas (Betty) Tucker and James (Jane) Tucker. She was predeceased by her parents, her step mother, Adelaide Warden (née Tucker), her sister, Helen Hawkins and brother-in-law, Dale Hawkins.
Thank you to all the friends who supported Jan, and especially, U of M Sparrow Home Hospice.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing, MI, 48933. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the Funeral Mass. A luncheon will follow.
Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

November 19, 2024 at 1:41 pmI’m going to miss you sweet girl.
We lived through 60 years of celebrations and tragedies. We held each other up and each of us put our children in each others hands as godparents. Our husbands were our foundations. Without them we would have not gotten through the difficult times in our lives. Our children turned out to be wonderful adults and our grandchildren are our joy. God bless you. Tell Jen I said hello and we all will miss her until we meet again.
LOVE BARBARA

November 21, 2024 at 3:46 pmI remember Janet (and Helen) from many years ago when we lived on Verlinden. And then our paths crossed years later through a mutual friend at Holy Cross. She always had a beautiful smile and special charm. God bless her soul and my condolences to her family and friends.

November 22, 2024 at 2:01 amDear Mike, Will and Mary my prayers are with you. Jan was a beautiful person. I use to love visiting her when I sold Avon out in Mulliken. Also glad we ran into each other when I moved back to Lansing. So glad I met her and you all. Sleep in peace Jan.

November 22, 2024 at 1:11 pmOh Mike, I’m so sorry to hear of your bride, Janet’s, passing. I remember both of you fondly from Holy Cross and St. Mary’s. Our mothers, you may recall, were best of friends, both Fowler transplants and active in the HC altar society. Our families drifted apart after their passing but I remember our chance meeting at St. Joe cemetery a couple years ago and getting an opportunity then to catch up since our school days. God bless you and your family.

November 23, 2024 at 3:53 pmOh, Jan, what a pleasure it was to attend St Mary’s together after you came across town from Holy Cross. You were so much fun, always smiling and laughing. My husband, Darrell, and I actually met at Helen and Jan’s in their living room playing cards with Darrell’s friends from Eastern, Doug Heath and Larry Coopes. We were married in December 1963. I am sure your family and friends will mourn your passing as will I down here in Poparville, Mississippi where we have lived since 1977. Bless your soul, may you rest in peace.
