Jane B. Claytor
Lansing
Jane passed peacefully surrounded by her beloved daughters on May 11, 2024.
She was born on December 4, 1934, to Stephen and Jessie Bird in Princeton, WV. Jane was a resident in Lansing since 1967 and an active member of the Colonial Village Baptist Church. Jane received her BS degree in Library Science in 1956 from Concord College, Athens, WV. She served as Medical Librarian at St. Lawrence Hospital for 19 years with prior work in the Tennessee State Library in Nashville, TN. On her retirement in 2002, she was program coordinator with the Sparrow Family Practice where she served as Medical Librarian following the closure of the library.
Jane will be loved and greatly missed by her two daughters, Lynn (Brian) Denison of Holt, MI, and Lee Ann (Jeffrey) Campbell of Canton, OH. Loved by all her five grandchildren, Vanessa Denison, Natalee Denison, Robert (Megan) Denison, Lauren (William) Shew, and Samantha Campbell; one great-grandchild, James Denison; as well as many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her heart.
Jane loved retirement to the fullest, by spending time out with her friends from MSU, Sparrow, and from her church. She enjoyed shopping with friends, attending shows at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts, and going to the Lansing Lugnuts games. She loved her house and all her neighbors on Tressa. Most of all, she enjoyed playing board games with her children and grandchildren. On her down time, she enjoyed sitting in her wingback chair reading books, drinking coffee, and working crossword puzzles.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the LifeWay Community Church (formerly Colonial Village Baptist Church), 2010 Boston Blvd., Lansing, MI 48910 with Rev. Bryon Morgan and Rev. H. Randolph Morgan co-officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Those desiring contributions may be made to the Building Fund, LifeWay Community Church, in memory of Jane Claytor.

May 13, 2024 at 4:10 pmI am so sorry to hear of Jane’s passing. She was just a great friend over the last 30 odd years. Always there for a friend and a colleague. I am thankful that we were all together for our annual April Fool’s dinner in April. Her bright smile and sunshine will be missed.
Love, prayers, and peace to the family.

May 14, 2024 at 9:32 pmJane and I worked together at CEF/State office. She was funny and caring and smart; an absolute delight to work with. She didn’t back away from any project, a true hard worker!! She took to task organizing two of our small storage units and those librarian skills really kicked in and she had everything categorized in no time. It was amazing!! She always talked fondly of her family and loved them very much.
Although she is in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ, I am so sorry for your incredible loss. She was truly one-of-a kind.

May 15, 2024 at 4:54 amJane was one of my closest friends. Initially, we worked together as hospital librarians in Lansing, she at St Lawrence and I at Sparrow. After retirement, we celebrated birthdays, Christmases, and Lugnuts games together. I loved her sense of humor and her kindness. I offer sincere condolences to her extended family. How we shall miss Jane!
