James L. Zimmerman

Age 78, passed away June 14, 2021.  He was born June 7, 1943, in Carson City, Michigan, to Nellie and Earl Zimmerman.  He graduated from Carson City-Crystal High School, LCC, and attended MSU.  Growing up on a farm, Jim worked several agricultural jobs before beginning his career with the State of Michigan, retiring from the Department of Transportation.  He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, and was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Spartans.  Jim also enjoyed traveling, camping and genealogy.

Surviving are:  his wife of 52 years, Janice; daughters, Dianna Heinz and Margaret (Robert Rogers) Zimmerman; son, Matthew (Sarah) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Austin Rogers, Katharyne Zimmerman and Alexander Zimmerman; brothers, Robert Zimmerman and Austin “Ike” (Miriam) Zimmerman; sister, Grace Clark; sister-in-law, Carol Zimmerman, as well as several niece and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Larry Zimmerman.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 3815 S. Cedar St., Lansing, with entombment to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  His family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with scripture service at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of James Zimmerman.
