James Kent (Jim) Rider

Flint, Michigan

Age 72, passed away December 29, 2025. He was born September 13, 1953, in Lansing, Michigan, son of Patterson and Marilyn (Jacobson) Rider.

Jim was a graduate of J.W. Sexton High School, class of 1971. He then got his associate degree in design from Lansing Community College. Jim was gifted in woodworking and enjoyed cooking and collecting DVDs.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Rider of Lansing, MI; brothers, Steve Rider of Shoreview, MN and Dave (Liz) Rider of DeWitt, MI; nieces, Hannah (Jim) Holderread and Abigail (Jon) Holderread; nephews, Matthew Rider and Andrew Rider; great-nieces, Bethany, Aria and Christina Holderread; and aunt, Jan Krouskut. He was preceded in death by his father, Patterson Rider; aunt, Marylyn Shadduck; and uncles, Harold E. Jacobson Jr. and Malcolm Rider.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St. Lansing, MI.
