James J. Pecora

Age 71, of Lansing, MI, passed away April 3, 2014. He was born July 23, 1942, in Lansing, son of Vincent and Assunta (Baldino) Pecora.

Jim graduated from Resurrection Parish High School and was a member of St. Mary Cathedral. He retired from the City of Lansing. In his retirement he became an author of two books, “Dead End” and “One Way” and was a great storyteller and an avid letter writer.  Jim was a great people person who was respected by many for his advice and fair dealings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Gloria; children, Kathleen (James) Ellis, James V. (Sandra), and Kristina; grandchildren, Anthony and Katelyn; brothers, Gerald and John (Aileen); sister, Gina; and his mother, Assunta Pecora. He was preceded in death by his father Vincent Pecora.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Bernard Reilly at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014, at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing. The Rite of Committal will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Catholic Charities.

Jimmie was one of our favorite persons. Too bad he cannot ever solve the mystery north of Harbor Springs. It was an excellent endeavor however. Our sympathies to the family.
