Jacquelyne Marie Aten Cunningham

Lansing, MI

Born April 10, 1924, to Murl K. and Helen (Schultz-Rowley) Aten; passed away December 10, 2017, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold F. Cunningham, in 2004.

She is survived by her children: Ann Marie (Kevin) Dunham; John Cunningham; Mary DeSimone; Scott (Heidi) Cunningham. Also her grandchildren: Andrew (Cari) Dunham; Matthew Dunham; Alan Cunningham; Amanda Cunningham; Jacquelyne (Kevin) Curran; Kathryn-Ann (Marc Moretti) DeSimone; John Cunningham; Renata Cunningham; great-grandchildren: Eli, Sam, Madison, Linkon, Zacary, Theodore. Jackie is also survived by her sister Patsy (Don) Lawrence and her brother Wendell (Jeanie) Aten, and many beloved family members and treasured friends.

Jackie had a rich and happy childhood growing up in Jackson, with vivid memories that she enjoyed recounting. She made many dear, lifelong friends, notably her T. C. pals. Summers spent at Clark Lake, first at her parents’ cottage, then, at the Uphouse-Cunningham cottage, were a must! How she enjoyed the Lake!

Jackie and Harold lived in Lansing beginning in 1949. They became congregants of First Presbyterian Church, of which she is still a member. She served the church in many capacities.

Jackie was an excellent secretary, working for many employers: from Walt Disney Studios during WWII to the Michigan Bell Test Center.

Jackie loved playing Bridge. For over 50 years, she was matching wits with ladies from an original club!

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing, 510 W. Ottawa St. Her family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and 12-1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in Woodland Cemetery in Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Aunt Jackie was a wonderful women in all ways. She had a fine sense of humor and was always kind to me and my wife, Alane. Jackie was also an excellent writer who had the gift of writing letters, a mostly lost art. We will miss her.
