The Ingham County Board of Commissioners named her to the Board of Health. She was an active volunteer with the Capital Area Center for Independent Living (CACIL) and its Regional Inter-Agency Consumer Committee (RICC).  She was honored by Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI) as Volunteer of the Year in 2008.  She also served on the Olmstead Coalition, the MI-Jobs Coalition, and the Medicaid Advisory Council (MRAC). She was an active member of Americans Disabled for Attendant Programs Today (ADAPT) and numerous committees working to advance public policy initiatives for long-term supports and services. She worked tirelessly on work groups associated with transportation, dental, housing, and vocational services for persons with disabilities.
