Jacqueline “Jackie” Thurbee

Jacqueline “Jackie” Thurbee of Chicago, IL, and Largo, FL, passed away November 8, 2017, in Okemos, MI. She was born April 28, 1929, to Frank and Marie Greenhoe in Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Thomas, and son John “Dingle.”

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Thomas (Jackie) and daughter Susan (Matt) Bort; sisters, Geraldine Guinn and Jo (Bob) Badger; 5 grandchildren: Nathan, Joshuah, Ryan (Mollie) Bort, John (Kelsey) Bort, and Kyle Bort; 3 great-grandchildren: Raegan, Jack, and Matty; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jackie graduated from Lindbloom High School in Chicago and married the love of her life, Thomas, July 26, 1947. She moved to Largo, Florida, in 1973 and worked as a teller for Smith Barney Harris Upham in St. Petersburg, FL. Upon her retirement she loved to garden, kayak, and sew, but most of all she loved sharing love and laughter with family and friends.

Jackie was a long-standing member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Largo, FL, and enjoyed serving and volunteering – helping others in any way she could. Her bright smile, quick wit, generous heart and beautiful soul, will be sorely missed by all.

A celebration of life and love will be held on July 21, 2018. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tinley Park, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, Lansing, MI. www.EstesLeadley.com

She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was a wonderful person and the best aunt ever.
