Jack R. Youngs

Lansing

Jack Richard Youngs was born January 23, 1931, in Lansing, MI, to Joe Clare and Gertrude Mae (Yost) Youngs. He peacefully slipped away to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 17, 2017.  Jack served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict, before working at, first, Cottage Gardens, then the GM Forge Plant, finally retiring in 1993 from the GM Parts Division on Mt. Hope Rd.  Jack had a vast number of interests, among them: fishing, bird watching, and the care, grafting, and propagation of flowers, trees, and shrubs.  His greatest passion was pursuing the work of our Lord, Jesus Christ. A quiet man, Jack not only talked the talk, but walked the walk, helping wherever needed, be it in prison ministry, on the street, or in his family members’ own homes.

Jack was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Betty, Jane, and Ruth; and two brothers, Jim and Steven. Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Raymond Koos (Marcie), Karen Parker, Linda Koos Butler (Mark), Danielle Leathers (Adam), and Jason Youngs; 10 grandchildren, Justin Koos (Aleisha), Branden Koos (Jerica), Joshua Van Guilder, Casandra Pomeroy (Adam), Lindsey Santos-Koos, Leremie Santos-Koos, LesAlina Santos-Koos, Emily Leathers, Evan Leathers, and Owen Leathers; and 8 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Braden, Emma, Mya, and Lucas Koos, Chandler Van Guilder, Lucas and Colin Pomeroy. Also surviving are sisters Carolyn “Susie” Kissee and Marilyn Youngs Nielsen (Jeff) of the Lansing area; brothers, Roger Youngs (Esther) of Florida and Dale Youngs of McBain, MI; 21 nieces and nephews and families; and an extended church family from Lake City, MI, and Mason, MI.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

I love my uncle Jack who is with the Lord and the rest of our family. He was a special uncle to us as I enjoyed spending time with him and talking about our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray for his kids and brothers and sisters in their time of need. Give them comfort and wrap your loving arms around them dear Lord now and the days ahead as they go through the grieving process. Love each and every one of you all. Your niece Patti.
