Ida L. Hobbs

Born December 20, 1917 in Owosso, Michigan daughter of the late John and Etta (Laporte) Askew, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at age 94.  She was from Lansing.

Survivors include: niece, Denise Knechtges and her children Laura and Patrick; niece, Alyce (Doug) Switzer and their children, Jenny, Julie, Diane, and Danny; niece, Beverly Corder and her children, Joel, Jeff, Chris, Stacy, Sally, Gretchen, and Katherine; niece, Catherine (Jerry) Leonard and their children, Michael and Kellie; 4 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great-great-niece.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her sister, Margaret (Ray) Allen; and her brother, John (Gladys) Askew.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Rev. William Haggard of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Ida, may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Eaton Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Charlotte.
