Huong Van Phan

East Lansing, MI

Huong Van Phan, born December 14, 1937 in Hue, Vietnam, to Nghi Phan and De Huynh, has passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, the day after his 88th birthday.

Huong served as Captain in the South Vietnamese Army during the Vietnam War. Following the Vietnam War, Huong moved his family to the United States, where they would establish their roots in Lansing, Michigan. In America, Huong devoted his life to his faith, his family, and his community. Huong loved his family with his whole heart, helping to raise his grandchildren. Huong was also a devoted member of the St. Andrew Dung-Lac parish, serving as eucharistic minister. Huong will forever be remembered by all who loved him.

Huong is survived by his wife of 62 years, Quyen Tran; children, Huy Phan, Hai Phan, Huong Phan, and Ha Phan; and grandchildren, Phillip Phan, Alexander Phan, Anthony Phan, Teresa Nguyen, Kevin Phan, John Nguyen, Jason Nguyen, and Joliena Phan.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. Andrew Dung-Lac Catholic Church, 1611 W. Oakland Ave., Lansing, MI 48915.  Rite of Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, on Thursday, December 18th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Friday, December 19th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, at the Church, for 1 hour prior to the Mass.
