Helen Mae (Fielder) Black

At age 100, Helen went home to her eternal reward and rest, on February 18, 2013. She was born April 8, 1912, in a log cabin on the family farm near Dickson, Tennessee. She and her siblings walked to the country school. She graduated from the 12th grade from Dickson Public School. Helen was employed at the “Pantry” restaurant in the basement of the YWCA in Lansing and later worked at Knapps Department Store. She was currently of Lansing, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Milas and Eva Milberry (Petty) Fielder; five brothers, Lloyd, Willie, James Aubrey, Moten and Walter; and two sisters, Mary and Louise. She is survived by her husband, Richard; sisters-in-law, Irmgard and Eunice; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at South Church, 5250 Cornerstone Dr., Lansing. Interment will be in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.
