Helen Cecelia McIntosh
Age 90, of Holt, MI, passed away January 15, 2017, at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte.
She was born in Bad Axe, MI, January 8, 1927, to Charles and Ida (Booms) Wolschlager on their farm, but was never a “farmer,” preferring housekeeping and studies. After graduating high school, Helen left the farm to do office work in Bad Axe and Detroit. She married Lester McIntosh January 18, 1947, and became a full-time mother and homemaker. They lived a short time in Detroit, moving to East Detroit in 1953 and then in 1972 moved to Holt. Helen was a very active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Lansing, and a 3rd degree Franciscan. She loved dancing with the love of her life, Lester, any time or place.
Helen and her mother, sisters, and daughters sewed many quilts. In later years, as her at home family shrunk, Helen and Lester became prolific Rosary makers, among other church and community activities. Lester passed away November 2, 2008.
She leaves behind children James (Anna) McIntosh, Almont, MI, Joan (Bruce) Hughes, Clearwater, FL, Cecilia (Patrick) Stanley, Jacksonville, OR, Mary (Terry) Adams, Memphis, TN, Joe (Karen) McIntosh, Dimondale, MI, and Ray (Amy) McIntosh, Irmo, SC; daughter-in-law, Barb McIntosh, Bad Axe, MI; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by sons Don and John, an infant daughter Florence, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 8 of her 9 brothers and sisters.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Lansing, with Fr. John A. Byers as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will take place in St. Columbkille Catholic Cemetery in Ubly, MI. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care.

January 21, 2017 at 9:29 amTo the family of Helen and Lester Mcintosh
They have been part of our IHM family for many,
many years. Helen Loved making quilts for family
and friends with family and friends. We all wanted
to win her quilt at the Christmas Craft Raffle.
She and Sister Helen shared a special friendship.
Lots of Helens back then. At least 7 or 8.
And Les, always with a smile, as a true Knight of
Columbus, finding ways to help the less fortunate
They made and gave me a pearl white rosary,
after my major surgery. It is always with me.
We did not know all the family, but we often saw
Joan bringing Helen to Mass, and Joe from the
Knights meetings.
We regret we could not have been with you to share
these memories
Prayers be with you,
Stan and Helen Draminski
