Gregory L. “Greg” McClelland

Age 68, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, in Cape Coral, FL, his winter home. He was born May 4, 1950, in Aledo, IL, to Eugene and Mary K. McClelland, now deceased.

In addition to the practice of law that he loved, Greg was an avid runner, golfer, scuba diver and underwater photographer. His scuba diving travels afforded him the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful places in the world both underwater and topside.

I remember Greg with fondness from my 2 years working at Dickinson, Wright in the early 1980s. His office was next to Joe Fink’s so I saw him every day. He was always kind and had a great sense of humor. My condolences to his wife and family.

God bless a wonderful, generous man. A self-starter. God helps those who help themselves. It seems he passed too early to us; we have a hard time understanding this. But, he accomplished SO much on this Earth in that short time. So God wanted him home standing beside Him. Such a BEAUTIFUL place, Heaven! Greg is now receiving his true reward for being such a good person. He passed his test with A pluses!

Greg was a wonderful company attorney and friend. He was a one of a kind attorney always willing to help at a moments notice. We were in the same building for years and I could see him often. What a privilege to know him!

While I did not have the good fortune to really know Greg, I know that he must have been a gentle but inspirational person with incredible intellect and good judgment. I know these things because he married an equally special human being 45 years ago. Prayers to you and your family, Janet.

During our many years in business, we relied on Greg during a varied number of legal situations. He was brutally honest, clever and I often told him I wished (sort of) to have a case of some sort go to court so I could “see him in action”. During this time, my husband and I spent much time laughing as he entertained us with stories, particularly his favorite humor form: Lawyer Jokes. We respected him, trusted him and always enjoyed him. He was a fine person.

I’m very sorry to hear of Greg’s passing at too young an age. We worked together at Dickinson Wright. Greg was a zealous and energetic advocate for his clients. My condolences on your loss.

Janet I was so sorry to learn of Greg’s passing. As you know I had met Greg and had not worked with him. But I felt I knew him from your references to him when we worked together and of course while we discussed your very exciting and interesting scuba diving trips. You two certainly covered the globe! My thoughts are with fine as you attempt to navigate life without Greg by your side. Praying for you. Kathy Wilbur
