Gloria Orrilla Groneman Lowry

Beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend, Gloria, passed away on April 12, 2013 at the age of 87. She was of East Lansing, Michigan.

A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a leader and teacher. The influence of her love, wisdom and testimony of Jesus Christ blessed all those who knew her. Gloria graduated from Provo High School, attended Brigham Young University as an English major, later receiving training in interior design from the Chicago Institute of Design. She worked for Ethan Allen and as a freelance designer once her children were grown. She said her greatest roles were as a wife and mother. She married her high school sweetheart, Sheldon G. Lowry, on April 3, 1946.

Mrs. Lowry is survived by: her daughters, Pamela Appleton, Martha Lowry, Tina (Rich) St. Onge, Amanda (Weldon) Poole; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 431 E. Saginaw Street, East Lansing. Viewing from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and from 10-10:45 on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
